206.6 percent more drivers’ licenses issued

The Planning and Statistics Authority’s latest bulletin for January 2023 has revealed significant changes in Qatar’s statistics. The total number of new drivers licenses issued increased by a massive 206.6 percent compared to December 2022. Additionally, the number of new vehicles registered also saw an increase of 40.2 percent in the same month. However, the total traffic violations increased by 78.4 percent, with excess speed (radar) recording the highest monthly increase rate of 210.9 percent.

On the demographic side, Qatar’s population has risen from 2.79 million in January 2022 to 2.95 million in January 2023, indicating an annual rate of change of 5.8 percent, with a monthly increase of 1.6 percent compared to December 2022. The bulletin also highlighted vital statistics such as 2,261 live births registered in January 2023, showing a decrease in Qatari live births by 7.1 percent from the previous month, while 236 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 4.4 percent from December 2022.
