Amir Cup title defence begins for Al Duhail over Al-Kharaitiyat

The 51st edition of the Amir Cup, a renowned football competition in the country, began with two Round of 16 matches scheduled on the opening day. Sixteen first and second division clubs are participating in this knockout tournament, which is considered the most popular football tournament in the country. Al Duhail, who won the title last year by beating Al Gharafa, will defend their title against Al Kharaitiyat at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium today.

Despite having a busy schedule, including participating in the recent AFC Champions League matches, Al Duhail is determined to keep the coveted title. Although they suffered a 7-0 loss to Al Hilal in the AFC Champions League semi-final last week, they bounced back to defeat Al Arabi in the QSL. Goalkeeper Shehab El Laithi stated that the team’s goal is to win the Amir Cup to make their fans happy.
