Annually, HMC supports 14,000 people quit tobacco

The number of people seeking assistance to quit smoking is on the rise at Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Tobacco Control Center. The center attends to patients of all ages, ranging from 14 to 80 years old, referred by clinics inside and outside of HMC, or self-referred. The center’s primary goal is to promote awareness of the dangers of tobacco use and provide behavioral support and counseling to help smokers quit smoking.

The center offers new innovative services, such as laser therapy, which is now available in Qatar to aid people in their journey to stop smoking. The center provides a full evaluation to individuals who wish to quit smoking, including a complete medical history, and lung function tests. Clinicians will also discuss available treatment options, which include the most up-to-date and effective methods to quit smoking.
