CPChem and QatarEnergy break ground on world’s largest ethylene cracker

QatarEnergy and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company (CPChem) have celebrated the ground-breaking of the Golden Triangle Polymers Plant in Orange County, Texas, marking the start of construction for the world-scale petrochemical facility worth $8.5 billion. The momentous event was attended by senior executives of QatarEnergy, Bruce Chinn, President and CEO of Chevron Phillips Chemical, Mark Lashier, President and CEO of Phillips 66, as well as local elected and appointed officials.

Speaking on behalf of HE Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, QatarEnergy’s President and CEO, Ahmad Saeed Al-Amoodi, said that for over two decades, they have been working closely with Chevron Phillips Chemical to meet the growing demand for innovative petrochemical products. In this partnership, they are committed to enabling balanced growth and facilitating human development in a responsible and sustainable manner. The Golden Triangle Polymers Plant is expected to significantly contribute to the global petrochemical industry by creating job opportunities and supporting economic growth in the region.
