Device invention by Qatar students to prevent children school bus stuck incidents

Following the tragic death of a four-year-old who was forgotten on a school bus in Qatar last year, two students from Al Andalus Primary Girls School took it upon themselves to create a device that could prevent such an incident from happening again. Rana and Maha invented a device that would count the students entering and exiting the school bus, as well as display the number of individuals inside the bus at any given time.

During an interview with Qatar TV, Maha explained that the idea came to them after hearing of the KG-1 student’s death. The device consists of two sensors that record when a child enters and exits the bus, as well as a screen that displays the number of people inside the bus. The children then took their prototype to Qatar University for further programming assistance from their engineers.
