Doha Debates to be hosted by Mo Amer
The next season of Doha Debates’ premier television debate series will be hosted by award-winning comedian and actor Mo Amer, Doha Debates and its new production partner Film 45 announced yesterday.
Each edition of Doha Debates’ flagship show will begin with a monologue and then contain discussions of current events and global topics with celebrities and expert guests. Filmed in Qatar’s Education City in front of a live studio audience. The series’ distribution is presently being discussed by the production team with several platforms. Amer is continuing to build on a successful 2022 that saw the release of his smash Netflix comedy Mo, which was inspired on Amer’s personal experience as a Palestinian refugee in Houston and received praise for its depiction of Arab-American life in the United States. The second season of the program has just been renewed. Amer is nominated for a 2023 Independent Spirit Award for “Best Actor” and Mo was designated one of the American Film Institute’s (AFI) top 10 television programs of 2022. Mo also received a 2022 Gotham Award.
