Dusseldorf International Airport welcomes Qatar Airways

On Tuesday, Qatar Airways‘ first flight from Doha to Düsseldorf, Germany, touched down at Dusseldorf International Airport, inaugurating the airline’s newest German location. The arrival of the aeroplane was greeted by a salute from a water cannon.

Flight QR085 was welcomed with an opening ceremony that was attended by Thomas Schnalke, chief executive officer of Dusseldorf International Airport, and Eric Odone, vice president of sales for Qatar Airways in Europe.

Düsseldorf is now Qatar Airways’ fourth destination in Germany, joining Munich, Frankfurt, and Berlin. The prestigious airline boosted its frequency from Frankfurt to three times per day in July 2022. The expansion into Düsseldorf shows Qatar Airways’ dedication to the German market.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, HE Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are delighted to launch direct services to Düsseldorf, expanding our services in Germany, and marking our entry to the Ruhr region – just in time for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM. With this new service, not only will German passengers enjoy daily flights from a new location, but customers in the nearby countries of Belgium and the Netherlands will also have access to over 150 destinations across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.”
