30,000 people came out to watch Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) players train at the Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday as part of their promotional tour of Qatar.
Leading the way were superstars Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappa, and Neymar, who spent nearly to two hours training in front of the crowd. On Thursday, Messi and PSG will fly to Riyadh to take part in a friendly match at the King Fahd Stadium against a select group of players from Cristiano Ronaldo’s new team Al Nassr and their Saudi rivals Al Hilal. Unsurprisingly, Messi received the greatest applause as he arrived in Qatar exactly one month after guiding Argentina to World Cup victory at the Lusail Stadium. The PSG players had already visited the Mina District and Lusail Marina in Qatar, where they were treated to delectable native cuisine.
Galtier and PSG have come under fire after the Parisians’ 1-0 setback to Stade Rennais on Sunday, which resulted in their second loss of the year and a three-point deficit in Ligue 1. PSG is five points ahead of Marseille, whom they still have to play away from home, and is three points ahead of Lens at the halfway point of the Ligue 1 season.
