Himyan prepaid card introduced by QIB for payment security
Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), the leading digital bank in Qatar, has introduced a new prepaid card called Himyan. This is the first Qatari national prepaid card, designed for use by all existing customers, residents, and visitors of Qatar, allowing them to make secure payments within the country.
The National Prepaid Card “Himyan”
The Himyan prepaid card is a trademark of the Qatar Central Bank, created as part of its efforts to develop electronic payment services and increase financial inclusion in the country. The name of the card is derived from the moneybag used by ancient Arabian merchants.
Easy Application Process
As part of QIB’s commitment to support the national vision and enhance financial inclusion, the Himyan prepaid card is available to QIB customers and non-banking customers, including visitors holding a valid QID or visa. Minors can also apply with a valid QID and a guardian who is a QIB customer. Customers can apply for the Himyan prepaid card via the QIB Mobile App or by visiting the branch and filling out the required application form.
Secure and Flexible
The new prepaid card can only be used within Qatar, providing flexibility to customers in their daily expenses, in addition to monitoring and controlling expenses and purchases. Transactions can be made locally via the NAPS network at all sale points, ATMs, and local online shopping websites. Himyan cardholders can use their cards to pay locally in a safe and secure manner since all transactions are made locally via the NAPS network. The Himyan prepaid card does not require a minimum account balance for issuance.
Banking Made Simple
In addition to its flexibility, the Himyan prepaid card comes with a contactless feature, reaffirming QIB’s commitment to offering a seamless banking experience to its customers. This new card comes at a perfect time, as Qatar is witnessing an influx of visitors, allowing them to pay securely within the country as part of the country’s efforts to develop electronic payment systems and a cashless society.
Easy Funding Process
Existing QIB customers can apply for the Himyan prepaid card via the QIB Mobile App or by visiting the branch and filling out the required application form. Non-QID holders (Visitors) can download the QIB Wallet application and complete the registration process. Customers can then visit QIB’s selected branches to request load funds in exchange for cash once the card is received.
Card launch excitement
Mr. D. Anand, QIB’s General Manager – Personal Banking Group, expressed his excitement about the launch of the Himyan prepaid card. He stated that the new card provides customers and non-customers yet another option to pay securely using a national prepaid card with many advantages.
