Initiatives, projects boost efforts to cope with climate change
One of Qatar’s biggest accomplishments in combating climate change and safeguarding the environment in 2022 will be the planting of the one millionth tree under the Plant Million Tree campaign. Another will be the opening of the Al Kharsaah Solar PV Power Plant (KSPP).

In order to promote electric vehicles and significantly reduce their carbon footprint, the construction of charging stations is also progressing. As part of the “Plant Million Tree” initiative, the millionth tree was planted at the Post Office Park on December 18, 2022, by Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani. This event took place in conjunction with the celebration of the nation’s National Day and the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM, which Qatar aimed to be an environmentally friendly competition.
