Kukuk and Mumbai wowed at CHI Al Shaqab

Christian Kukuk and his grey stallion Mumbai were the stars of the second day of the 10th edition of Commercial Bank CHI Al Shaqab Presented by Longines, taking home the top prize. Kukuk, who competed in the Tokyo Olympics, rode Mumbai to victory in the CSI5* – 1.55m competition after a perfect run in the jump-off, clocking a time of 41.36 sec and winning €50,325. The pair had recorded a time of 70.60 sec in the first round.

Mark McAuley of Ireland, riding GRS Lady Amaro, finished second in the jump-off with a time of 41.42 sec after a time of 70.64 sec in the first round. Frenchman Kevin Staut, riding Dialou Blue PS, completed the course in 41.59 sec in the jump-off and earned a podium finish, having topped the first round with a penalty-free time of 69.18 sec. The event was attended by H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar Olympic Committee President and Al Shaqab Chairperson, as well as special guests.
