Ogletree wins Qatar International Series for second time

Andrew Ogletree has made history by becoming the first player to win two International Series events after securing a fantastic victory at the $2.5m International Series Qatar at Doha Golf Club. The 24-year-old American golfer finished with a one-over-par 73, ending the tournament on seven under, three shots clear of Thailand’s Gunn Charoenkul, who shot a 68 with the help of an eagle on the par-five 18th. Thailand’s Suradit Yongcharoenchai, the early leader, finished third, one shot behind, following a 72, while his compatriot Phachara Khongwatmai took fourth place with a score of 67, one stroke further back.

Ogletree started the final day with a five-shot lead and was never seriously challenged, despite facing unrelenting strong winds for the fourth consecutive day. He was six shots ahead at the turn, and although a double bogey on hole 10 gave his rivals some hope, he managed to steady himself with seven pars and a birdie on the last hole. This win has moved him to the top of the Asian Tour Order of Merit and International Series OOM thanks to his excellent start to the season.
