Oxygen Park is transformed by local, emerging artists
Artists from Qatar were given the opportunity to turn utility boxes at Oxygen Park into paintings as part of the Utility Boxes Art Contest organised by the Qatar Foundation. The winning entries will be on display for the following three years across the park in Education City.
The goal of this program was to use an existing platform for an art intervention in public settings to improve the park’s beauty and liveliness. Qatar Foundation (QF) developed, created, and erected the artwork of the six competition winners. One of the six winners, Maha Al-Kuwari, expressed her appreciation for QF’s commitment to both established and up-and-coming musicians. The Qatari artist, who works for the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, is especially appreciative that her work will be on display during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 since accessible public art improves a visitor’s experience.
