Qatar plans hosting Arab Nurses and Midwives Virtual Conference

The second Arab Nurses and Midwives Virtual Conference will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, and will be hosted by the Corporate Nursing and Midwifery Department at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in conjunction with local partners. This event is a prelude to Arab Nurses and Midwives Day, and will serve as both a learning opportunity and a celebration. The online format of the conference makes it easier for people from the 22 Arab countries to take part.

The purpose of this online gathering is to provide nurses and midwives from all over the Arab world with an opportunity to discuss and learn about cutting-edge developments in evidence-based practise. A local committee comprised of representatives from the Qatari Ministry of Public Health, the Police Clinic and Army Hospital under the Ministry of Interior of Qatar, the Primary Health Care Corporation, Sidra Medicinal, Aspetar Hospital, and HMC crafted the agenda for the virtual conference.

Acting HMC Chief Nursing Officer Mariam Nooh Al-Mutawa stated, Chief Nursing Officer at HMC explained the reasoning for hosting the event in October, “The Arab Board of Ministers of Health decreed in 2021 that all Arab countries will celebrate Arab Nurses and Midwives Day annually on the 3rd of November. Each year one of the Arab nations is selected to host a regional event and this year it is Qatar’s privilege to organize an event that is designed to bring together nurses and midwives in a targeted forum where they can benefit from educational sessions as well as share their experiences with peers from other organizations.”
