Qatar returns with sensational win over Ehning, Stargold

Marcus Ehning and his horse Stargold made a remarkable comeback at the Commercial Bank CHI Al Shaqab presented by Longines. The pair won top honors in the CSI 5* 1.50m event on the first day of the three-day equestrian extravaganza. They put up an excellent performance without any penalties in 63.52 seconds to secure their win. The spectators were thrilled to see the former Olympic champion and his 12-year-old bay back in the Longines Arena, one year after their remarkable triumph in the CHI Al Shaqab Grand Prix. Francisco Jose Mesquita Musa from Brazil, who rode Catch me Marathon, came second with an impressive show in 63.67 seconds, while Kevin Staut on Cheppetta secured third place with a time of 64.24 seconds.

In another event, Shane Breen from Ireland, riding 11-year-old Haya, emerged victorious in the International jumping competition in two phases special (1.45 m). The competitors had a tough battle, but Breen and Haya showed a perfect performance to complete the course in 30.84 seconds. Frenchman Staut, who rode 10-year-old bay Dialou Blue PS, came close to winning with a time of 31.12 seconds. Mesquita Musa from Brazil, riding 11-year-old Carte de Blue PS Marathon, tried hard but finished third with a time of 31.60 seconds.
