The 10-day ‘Rhamnus and Honey’ festival begins

The Ministry of Municipality’s Agricultural Affairs Department inaugurated the ‘Rhamnus and Honey’ festival this morning at the Al Mazrouah Yard, Umm Salal Central Market. The event will run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. through February 4th.

The Ministry welcomes the public to the 10-day event, which will include 25 local farms. 15 nearby farms sell a variety of rhamnus (kanar) fruits in great quantities, while 10 farms supply natural honey products. The event aims to promote local agricultural goods, support Qatari farmers, and attract audiences to the winter market in order to take advantage of high-quality items straight from Qatari farms. The festival attempts to promote locally cultivated rhamnus or kanar by introducing the public to its varied forms, especially because the fruit is recognised to be high in nutritious content. Kanar season lasts from mid-January through May. The Ministry of Municipality has provided significant assistance to local farmers. Recently, the Ministry of Municipality’s Agricultural Affairs Department conducted a 10-day ‘Honey and Dates Festival’ from December 29, 2022 to January 7, 2023. During the event, 1,837kg of various dates, 826kg of honey, and 35.5kg of beeswax were sold.
