Cuban artist’s mural inaugurated at Katara Cultural Village

At Doha’s Katara Cultural Village, a new mural titled “Friends, Qatar and Cuba” has been unveiled. Created by Cuban artist Michele Lopez, this mural adorns Building 15, directly opposite Al-Hikma Square. The unveiling ceremony was attended by the General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, H.E. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, and the Cuban Ambassador to Qatar, H.E. Oscar Leon Jones Eliza. This mural is part of a broader Katara initiative to decorate various buildings in the Cultural Village with striking murals.

Michele Lopez, known for his photorealistic murals of children on Havana’s streets since 2015, brings his distinct style to this new work. Katara Cultural Village is a vibrant hub showcasing murals from both local and international artists. Among these is the mural by Iraqi artist Nehru Qader Rashid, “Qatari Features” by Qatari artist Jassem Zaini, “The Challenge” by the late Qatari artist Yousef Al-Sharif Al Sada, “The Oryx Goes Forward” by Argentine artist Martin Ron, and “Ocean in the Sky” by the late Qatari artist Wafaa Al-Hamad.
