Davielys Velazco, Pedro Pichardo, and Marileidy Paulino each broke world records at Suheim bin Hamad Stadium on one historic Friday night in Doha.

The Wanda Diamond League returned to Qatar on Friday, June 19, 2026, for its seventh stop of the season. Elite athletes gathered at Suheim bin Hamad Stadium, home of Qatar Sports Club and produced one of the most memorable meetings in the event’s history.

Three world records fell in a single evening in the women’s triple jump, men’s triple jump and women’s 400 metres.

World Record 1: Davielys Velazco Women’s Triple Jump

Cuba’s Davielys Velazco opened the record-breaking evening in remarkable fashion.

She won the women’s triple jump with a leap of 15.13 metres a new world record. Her compatriot Perez Hernandez finished second with 14.97m, while Senegal’s Saly Sarr took third place with 14.86m.

World Record 2: Pedro Pichardo Men’s Triple Jump

Portugal’s Pedro Pichardo followed with a world record of his own.

He won the men’s triple jump with a leap of 17.71 metres. Jamaica’s Jordan Scott finished second with 17.69m, and Algeria’s Mohamed Yasser Triki claimed third with 17.67m.

Two world records in one event category. In one night. At the same stadium.

World Record 3: Marileidy Paulino Women’s 400 Metres

The third world record came in the women’s 400 metres.

Dominican Republic star Marileidy Paulino stormed to victory in 48.91 seconds a stunning new world record. Poland’s Natalia Bukowiecka finished second in 50.10 seconds, while Cuba’s Roxana Gomez took third in 50.23 seconds.

Paulino’s performance was the standout moment of the night. Running 48.91 seconds in the 400 metres puts her in a league of her own.

Beyond the world records, the evening delivered strong performances across every discipline.

Women’s 400m Hurdles

Slovakia’s Emma Zapletalova won in 52.30 seconds. Jamaica’s Rachael Clayton finished second in 53.05 seconds, and Bahrain’s Kemi Adekoya took third in 53.67 seconds.

Men’s 110m Hurdles

American Cordell Tinch claimed victory in 13.23 seconds, narrowly ahead of Spain’s Asier Martinez (13.27 seconds) and Tomas Wycles (13.28 seconds).

Women’s 100 Metres

Jamaica’s Kemba Nelson won in 10.88 seconds. Italy’s Zaynab Dosso finished second in 11.01 seconds, and Luxembourg’s Patrizia van der Weken took third in 11.05 seconds.

Women’s 800 Metres

American Addy Wiley won in 1:57.98. Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma finished second in 1:58.08, and Uganda’s Halimah Nakaayi took third in 1:58.41.

Women’s 5,000 Metres

Ethiopia dominated. Medina Eisa led an Ethiopian sweep, winning in 14:53.91. Likina Amebaw was second in 14:54.37, and Marta Alemayo finished third in 14:55.65.

Men’s Pole Vault

Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis won on countback after clearing 5.92m, ahead of American Christopher Nilsen and Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen, who cleared the same height.

Three world records in one Diamond League meeting is exceptionally rare. The last time a single event produced this kind of output was years ago.
