H.E. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Qatar’s Minister of Education and Higher Education, recently visited Tokyo, Japan where she reaffirmed her country’s dedication to investing in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. At the 19th Annual Meeting of Science and Technology in Society forum, she addressed a roundtable of Science and Technology Ministers. The minister affirmed her country’s eagerness for international cooperation in these areas to highlight the risks and challenges facing the world today.
Al Nuaimi reported that since the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) inception 16 years ago, more than US$1.4bn has been invested to fund over 4,700 domestic research initiatives and international research partnerships with 54 nations. The opportunities Qatar provides to recruit researchers and professionals, as well as the work it has done to strengthen and develop scientific capabilities and talents among young people, were also underlined.
