A HMC dispatcher wins a prestigious international award

The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED), located in the US, has given an emergency medical dispatcher from Hamad Medical Company (HMC) the Middle East Dispatcher of the Year Award.

The award was recently given to Mutaz Alrafayia, a member of the ambulance service, at a formal ceremony in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

IAED procedures, developed by a preeminent group of emergency dispatch specialists, help dispatchers ask the appropriate questions, deliver better, more reliable emergency dispatch service, and improve first-responder situational awareness. IAED congratulated Mutaz on his selection, saying that he “fully embodies what it means to be a first responder” and that “the call filed with the nomination showed him taking a concerned caller through conducting CPR on an unresponsive patient” was only one of the many factors.

The Dispatcher of the Year Award is presented each year to an emergency dispatcher who shows excellence in their job throughout the year, according to Abdullah Alyafei, Assistant Executive Director Communications for the HMC Ambulance Service.
