Qatar Creates, a year-round national cultural movement promoting the diversity of cultural activities in Qatar, announced a public programme from March 10 to 18, consisting of film screenings, art exhibitions, creative dialogues and workshops. The announcement was made during a press conference led by Khalifa Al Obaidli, Director of Tasweer Photo Festival, and attended by Bouthayna Baltaji, Head of Exhibitions and Heritage Exhibit Section at National Museum of Qatar, and Abdulrahman Al Ishaq, Director of Public Art at Qatar Museums.
The programme’s highlights include the 9th edition of DFI’s Qumra 2023, a yearly industry incubator event that supports first-time and second-time filmmakers from the Arab world and beyond. The second biennial Tasweer Photo Festival Qatar will also take place, along with the debut of several art exhibitions, including the first solo exhibition of artist Olafur Eliasson’s work in the Gulf region. The programme aims to celebrate Qatar’s diverse cultural scene and provide a platform for emerging artists and filmmakers to showcase their work.
