Qatar University climbs 100 spots in 2023 Times Higher Education

The 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings place Qatar University (QU) in the top 250 institutions worldwide, an increase of 100 positions from the previous year.

The rankings are the only global performance tables that measure research-intensive universities in all four of their major goals (teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international view), making them an invaluable resource for prospective students. For the eighth year in a row, the University is in the top 10 in the worldwide outlook indicator. Because of the addition of 137 new universities to the rankings this year, this accomplishment is all the more remarkable. The State of Qatar‘s financial backing of academic research has led to notable improvements in several key areas, most notably research and citations.

Dr. Hassan Al Derham, President of QU, remarked on the success, saying, “Excellence is at the heart of Qatar University’s vision. We are very pleased to see the University place highly on the prestigious THE World University Rankings, as it reflects the effort and commitment the University continues to undertake to further cement its position globally. This advancement in our ranking also acknowledges our achievements in academia in terms of the quality of our programs, research and services.”
