The Ambassador of Sri Lanka, Mohamed Mafaz Mohideen, has highlighted the significant developments in bilateral relations between Qatar and Sri Lanka in recent years, and expressed the desire to further enhance cooperation in various areas.
During a reception held at The Westin Doha Hotel to mark Sri Lanka’s 75th Independence Day, the ambassador noted that Sri Lanka is keen to strengthen its longstanding ties with Qatar by exploring untapped potentials for cooperation. Specifically, he highlighted trade and commerce, tourism, and education as areas of focus for further collaboration.
The Sri Lankan embassy in Doha is also seeking to establish a Foreign Ministry level consultation committee, organise the third session of the Qatar-Sri Lanka Joint Economy, Commercial and Technical Commission, and create a platform to promote trade between the two countries. The ambassador also thanked Qatar for its support in overcoming the economic challenges facing Sri Lanka.
